13 August 1983: Nutty
This issue of Nutty appeared roughly midway through the six-year run of a great little 80s comic that seemed designed to be that little bit more madcap and unhinged than the likes of The Beano, The Dandy, The Beezer and The Topper in DC Thomson’s esteemed humour range.
Bananaman, drawn here by the great John Geering, was a regular fixture in Nutty from issue 1, and what an inspired and significant creation he was. He still runs in The Beano today and has transferred to various other media across the years.
This Down The Tubes article by Bananaman’s creator Steve Bright gives some nice insight into the genesis of the character https://downthetubes.net/happy-birthday-bananaman-co-creator-steve-bright-celebrates-40-years-of-the-hapless-superhero/
