Classic cover artists: Reg Parlett
Every Reg Parlett image seems to be infused with laughter, happiness and general delight. Reg was an artist of many, many years' experience in the comic industry by the time his Buster illustrations became regular features of the comic's from page in the early 1980s. As this fascinating Comics Wiki article http://ukcomics.wikia.com/wiki/Reg_Parlett_(1904-1991) relates, he was born into a family of cartoonists and did his first work for British publication in the early 1920s. His work for IPC always had a note of the vintage about it, yet as full of movement and feeling as any of his contemporaries' output. The publisher had a gem in Reg, and it's good to see that fulsomely acknowledged in the issue of Buster dated 4 August 1984, with Buster celebrating the master's 80th birthday in appropriate style (I've scanned the strip in full and posted in below).
