Classic cover artists: Shirley Bellwood
The superb artwork of Shirley Bellwood graced the covers of many issues of Misty across a two-year period at the end of the 1970s. All of these images featured the character of Misty herself - ethereal and beautiful editor of the supernatural weekly - and based on the likeness of Shirley herself. While each cover comprised little more than a portrait of Misty (occasionally accompanied by a moon, a bat or swirling tendrils of mist), each was unique and captivating. One feels not so much invited to read the comic, but entrances to do so.

And John Freeman wrote a fascinating, well-illustrated retrospective of her career - including comics work dating back to the 1950s - on his Down the Tubes website http://downthetubes.net/?p=30937.
