On this day, 24 February 1979 … ‘Here in the Wilderness of Willows the mists have parted for the moonlight to reveal this week’s clutch of shuddermakers.’ The shuddermakers in this mid-run issue of Misty included: Nine Lives of Nicola, in which Nicola Scott, last priestess of the cat-goddess Bast, was under spiritual attack from the serpent empire; Slave of Time, in which Lisa fell in thrall to a carriage clock that was the source of time itself; Whistle and I’ll Come, in which Toni Ballard becomes separated from her ghost-dog Albert; The Island, in which school-trippers Angie and Sue explore the mysteries of Carr Bay Island; Croc in the Box, in which bullied Sue Gurney has a not-so-imaginary friend in the attic; and Going … Going … Gone!, in which pickpocket Tracey Trantor steals a mirror with the power to make her invisible (what could possibly go wrong?!).
