9 February 1974: Shiver and Shake
Here’s the edition of Shiver and Shake that was in the shops 49 years ago. I’m not quite sure what advantage The Duke’s Spook is getting by popping up through the table like that, but it’s probably something along the lines of ‘You can’t snooker a spooker!’.
Art by Mike Lacey.
The Duke’s Spook (artist unknown) and Shake the elephant (art Mike Lacey) each had their own regular strips inside Shiver and Shake.
Other strips in this issue were:
Shiver: Frankie Stein, Scream Inn, The Hand, Grimly Feendish, The Shiver Givers, Horrornation St., Ghouldilocks, Sweeny Toddler.
Shake: Lolly Pop, The Fixer, Eagle Eye, Match of the Week, Moana Lisa, Tough Nutt and Softy Centre, Wear ‘Em Out Wilf, Webster, The Desert Fox.
Ken Reid’s The Geordie Mining Monster from Newcastle was the Creepy Creations back page pin-up.
