Cover date 20 March 1976: Whizzer and Chips
Sid’s Snake: artist unknown
It’s a lock-in for Sid’s Snake Slippy on the cover of today’s Whizzer and Chips. (Edit: Thank you Andy Boal for pointing out that - unusually - Mike Lacey was not the Sid’s Snake artist on this occasion. Annoyingly, it did occur to me as I wrote the original post that it might not be Mike - those firemen’s legs didn’t look right to me - but I didn’t follow through on the hunch. Happy to be put right here!)
The Whizz-kids line-up inside includes Frank McDiarmid’s Mystery Museum, Tom Williams’ Tiny Tycoon, Terry Bave’s Odd Ball and Sid Burgon’s Joker.

For today’s Chip-ites, here’s a soggy doggy tale for Jimmy Hansen’s Shiner, fat-shaming in Terry Bave’s The Slimms, geriatric high-jinks in Brian Walker’s Old Boy and an extra chippy day for Norman Mansbridge’s Fuss Pot.
