15 November 1980: 2000AD
It still astonishes me that, as a 10-year-old in 1980, for just 14p (or 2g on Pluto), I could acquire such imaginative, thrilling, intelligent, satirical, cheeky, subversive material as 2000AD.
Awe-inspiring art by Ron Smith (Judge Dredd), Carlos Ezquerra (Strontium Dog) and Massimo Belardinelli (Meltdown Man), and brilliant writing by John Wagner, Alan Grant and Alan Hebden … to name just a few of the stellar talents creating The Galaxy’s Greatest Comic at this time.
And of course the superb Kevin O’Neill. I loved this Dash Decent serial and cut out every weekly page to make my own little album. Such delight in every panel - I pored this for weeks and weeks.
