Forty-one years ago today was the cover date of issue two of the revolutionary Action comic, featuring off-the-leash secret agent Dredger, and the psychotic great white shark Hook Jaw. ‘Actual size’ here refers to the slick iron-on transfer of Hook Jaw that was this week’s free gift, rather than to the beast himself.

Hook Jaw’s adventures continue today, in a sinister, broody comic strip set on the pirate-infested waters of Somalia, written by 2000AD script droid Si Spurrior. Well worth a look if you like your shark flesh rare and bloody.
