On this day, 1 October 1977: Krazy
Cover artwork: Mike Lacey
On this day, 1 October 1977 … This was the fifty-first issue of Krazy, and there would be only another twenty-eight after this one (before it was merged into Whizzer and Chips) so it’s slightly sad to find it in rude health. Like Walter Wurx’s bladder this issue is packed to bursting: fun strips, brilliant cartooning, off-the-wall cartoon features, competitions and puzzles. As usual, there’s a clutch of seventies celebs on show: Noel Edmonds and Robert Redford get the custard pie treatment, Chris Bonnington’s going up in the world, and there’s a brilliant two-page ‘stars at the fun fair’ cartoon (if anyone can name the artist of this and the ‘Channel Crossings’ page, I’d be grateful). How many famous faces can you spot among this crowd:
(Thanks for all the suggestions of who the characters were on Twitter, and to Nuromanca for suggesting David Sell as the artist.)
